# IconPlaceholderComponent

The `IconPlaceholder` component displays the [default icons](https://getstream.io/chat/docs/sdk/angular/v8/components/IconComponent/) unless a [custom template](https://getstream.io/chat/docs/sdk/angular/v8/services/CustomTemplatesService/) is provided. This component is used by the SDK internally, you likely won't need to use it.
